INDUSTRY FEDERATION FOR HARD CHEESE

In 2007, french cheesemaking companies produced 570500 tonnes of hard cheese.

SFPP provides a large range of services for manufacturers of these cheeses as well as for packers of these cheeses.

The services that we now provide follow on from those developed by the Interprofession de l'Emmental (an Emmental industry federation) over forty years and put our know-how and in-depth knowledge of the business environment of cheese-production to work. Our services complement those provided to milk producers and companies by organisations with wider remits.

Let us remind you that Emmental is France's number one cheese -in tonnage produced as well as in terms of quantities of milk processed - and its growth was due in part to work carried out by the Interprofession de l'Emmental. Over the last twenty years France has become the biggest Emmental producer in the world.

SFPP'?s objective is to be the trade federation that represents all companies involved in the hard cheese market.

Analysis of the cheese market, using:

- Monitoring of the market on a month-by-month basis to estimate expected production levels and to quantify actual production, stock levels, and the amount of cheese being marketed.

-Annual reports on the industry: companies' production and processing capacities, number of staff employed.

-Focus groups provided by market research agencies, to make evaluations.

-Positioning and analysis of special market research reports sourced by the market research unit.at the Maison du Lait (a grouping of French dairy industry organisations in Paris).

-Framing and administration of regular reports on trade exports and analysis of Customs & Excise statistics -provided by French Customs and Eurostat.

-Monitoring of competition levels in cheese markets and market research into international trends.

-Assistance with evaluation and decision-making.

-Analysis of legislation.

 

Lobbying :

Our ability to carry out effective lobbying of government bodies is the result of a long history of dealing closely with such organisations.

Briefing journalists and opinion-shapers on the bard cheese trade :

  • Set-up of action plans in the following areas.
  •  Advertising one of the hard cheese types on behalf of groups or associations of companies

SFPP: A vital link with the rest of the milk processing business

The existence of the SFPP -by means of both its legal status and its activities -means that the interests of companies in the hard cheese production and packing business are taken into account by other milk processing organisations and federations (fifteen of which are also housed in the Maison du Lait in Paris).
